A climate control system is being developed for the geodome that had been built in DCU’s community garden by The Grow Dome Project enterprise. When installed it will ensure optimal climate conditions for both the future socialising space inside the dome, as well as for vegetables growing in the custom built enclosure. The temperature, oxygen level, and soil moisture are being monitored, while by controlling a combination of ventilation fans and water pump will keep conditions within desired limits. Anyone who wishes to take a glance at the current figures can do so by installing a bespoke mobile phone app, which is being developed at the moment waiting for approval to be published on Google Play.
The following photographs show some steps of the construction process of the controlling box.
